Recommendation: Fantastic Contraption

I don’t normally give any recommendations here, but I’ll make an exception this time.

I got addicted the past couple of days to a cute online game called Fantastic Contraption, at www.fantasticcontraption.com. It’s a physics based engineering game (and this IS a physics blog, after all) in which you have to transport a block from one region to another, using rods and wheels. It may sound pretty straightforward, but it’s not! It’s pretty challenging actually. If you’re old enough to remember The Incredible Machine, then you should know what to expect.

Since it’s a physics based game I thought it might be interesting for some of the readers. Check out other peoples’ solutions once you complete a level and you’ll get to see some pretty amazing designs which will also teach you a lot about simple engineering.

Warning - it’s addictive, so prepare to spend a couple of hours on it at the very least. Thumbs up to whoever created it!
